“Riding on the Moral Arc of the Universe”
The theme for our 2025 annual meeting draws on [the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther] King
and [Unitarian minister Theodore] Parker and invites us to think about how we might or should be
engaged in conceptualizing and/or participating in justice and justice-making:
“Riding on the Moral Arc of the Universe.”

2025 Local Charity:
Bethany House of Hospitality
Every year, the SCE works to support a local charity in the area where the Annual Meeting is being hosted. This year, we have chosen to focus fundraising efforts and are asking those interested to consider made a donation to the Bethany House of Hospitality.
Bethany House of Hospitality offers housing and support services to young immigrant women as they journey to independence. It was founded by a group of 20 religious women from 12 different religious communities/congregations.
Since its opening on October 2017, Bethany House has welcomed more than 60 women and 12 children from 17 countries in Africa, Asia, the Middle East, Eastern Europe and South and Central America. Most have arrived in this country as unaccompanied children seeking asylum and have ‘aged out’ of the children’s detention centers. While a resident at a Bethany House, most take ESL, GED or high school classes and several have been able to attend local colleges.
